European Universities Initiative bid kick-off meeting

Universities are key drivers of change within our societies; providing education to citizens, performing research to overcome challenges, and supporting our local ecosystems of businesses, government and civil society. To harness this work and support networks of universities in solving key challenges, the European Union created the European Universities Initiative (EUI).

Looking forward to the next call, the U!REKA network will be submitting a bid for the EUI in March 2023. On the 5th and 6th of September 2022, representatives of the U!REKA member institutions came together at Metropolia in Helsinki to ‘kick off’ the bid writing process, identifying a theme for the bid, and laying out the key stages of the project. The meeting was a success with active discussions and shared enthusiasm.

The EUI bid writing process will bring in students and staff from all U!REKA member institutions, as well as local businesses, government and civil society to identify concrete outcomes which we can work towards, together, to solve one of the major challenges facing our communities, Europe, and the world.
